Louise and I have been on some pretty long rides.
I chatted about wouldn’t it be great to have some kind of retro fit throttle cruise control.
So after much internet surfing found the KAOKO Throttle Stabilizer.

Remove the Bar End
The OEM Bar End has to come off first. You should have fitted the bolt with a dab of Medium (Blue) strength Loctite. This make make it a tad stiff and difficult to take off. Make sure you use the correct sized screwdriver or allen head head. Place in the bolt head and give the end of the screwdriver a short sharp tap. With the screwdriver still in the bolt head with a short strong rotation to the left (anti-clockwise) the bolt should break free from the Loctite grip. Remove the bolt and bar end.
Internal OEM Bar End Bolt
Once the Bar End is off you should see the OEM Bar end internal bolt. This has an internal thread for taking the bar end fixing bolt and an outer thread for fixing into the handle bar. If you do not have one and it's an aftermarket one because you opted years ago to go for some fancy blingy bar ends. Think twice, I would always go for the OEM inner bolt as you know that is going to be solid and more importantly the inner thread is going to be TDC (True Dead Centre) If the inner thread is 'off centre' the KAOKO stabiliser will not work properly.
FRICTION BABY
The KAOKO friction washer goes in first. The job of this washer is, to engage with the end of the throttle tube only, not the end of the grip. I had to source a new throttle tube as the previous owner had munted it for some reason? Yeah I know right all these extra jobs to rectify previous bright ideas. Still all good to find these and rectify. There is an inner raised lip on the washer - this faces and should be able to make contact with the end of the throttle tube.
BOLT ME UP
The KAOKO Controller and bar end go on last. Look at the instructions you got with device for measurements and gap information. There is a gap that has to set between the right hand side of the knurled nut and the left hand side of the inbuilt bar end When bolting on don't forget some Blue Loctite
IT'S BOLTED
The KAOKO Stabilizer now fully fitted and adjusted. I am impressed with this and look forward to testing it's smoothing out of the throttle which is the second function of this.
